Windows 7 / 8 / Vista:
- Close Outlook
- Open a Windows explorer window or go to Start -> My Computer
- In the Windows Explorer address bar put in: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\
- Find the folder named "Protect"
- Rename the folder "Protect" to "Protect-old" or similiar name
- Open Outlook
- If it asks for your password, enter it and make sure to check the "Remember password" checkbox.
- You should be all set now.
Windows XP:
Windows XP requires you to edit the registry to over come this issue and as such this isn't recommended.
- In regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\RPC
- if the RPC key does not exist, create a new one
- Create a new DWORD under the RPC key called UseWindowsUserCredentials
- In UseWindowsUserCredentials, put ONE of the following values determined under your environment:
- In a Domain with Exchange: 0
- Not in a Domain with Exchange: 1
- Not in Domain or In a domain otherwise: 1
- Close regedit
- Open Outlook and confirm password and remember to save password if asked
- You should be set.
